Here's something I see all the time with the moms I work with: they're motivated, they genuinely care about feeling better, and they're working really hard. And somehow, they're still feeling burned out, frustrated, and stuck.

If you've ever thought the answer was just to push harder — more workouts, tighter meal plans, more intensity — I get it. That's the message we've been sold forever. But here's the thing: that approach often works against you, especially when life is already full.


There's a concept in exercise science called the minimum effective dose. It's the least effort needed to actually spark the results you're looking for. And once you understand it, it changes everything.


Why Working Harder Can Backfire


When you overshoot what your body actually needs, you tend to end up tired, dealing with nagging soreness or little injuries, riding a rollercoaster of motivation, and feeling like no matter what you do, it's never enough.


That's the cycle that derails so many well-intentioned moms who genuinely want to feel strong and healthy. The irony is that your results often come faster when you stop overreaching and start getting intentional.


What the Minimum Effective Dose Exercise Approach Actually Looks Like

Pick one area where you've been struggling and strip it down to the minimum effective dose — the simplest version that still gets you where you want to go.


  • Instead of a 5-day workout plan → start with 2 to 3 short, doable sessions that you can actually repeat next week.

  • Instead of complicated weekly meal prep → prep just one thing: protein, veggies, or a big batch of grains.

  • Instead of overhauling your entire routine → improve just the first five minutes of your morning.

  • Instead of trying to fix everything at once → choose one habit that supports your biggest goal right now.


Here's what I love most about this approach: it builds confidence. Confidence builds consistency. And consistency is what produces lasting results.
