Recipe: Iced Protein Mocha Latte

Writer: MargretaMargreta

I’ve got a surprisingly good-for-you recipe that’s perfect any time you want a little extra “kick” of energy (including before a workout).

How does an iced mocha latte sound? (Answer: YASSS!!!)

Why it’s good for you:

  • The banana gives you carbs, vitamins, and minerals - your fuel

  • Protein helps nearly every system in the body, click here for more about that here.

  • Caffeine from the coffee gives you energy to boost your performance (mental or physical)

If you’re not familiar with protein powder, there are literally hundreds on the market now including whey protein (made from dairy products) to plant-based powders made from hemp, rice, or soy. My recommendation is to choose protein powders with as little ingredients as possible. My current favorite hemp protein powder is this one (<-- not an affiliate link), it’s vegan and GF!

PRO TIP: If you drink coffee in the morning, make a little extra and keep it in the fridge to use later in this recipe.

Iced Mocha Protein Latte

(serves 1)

Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, High Protein, Quick

½ cup brewed coffee (cold brew works great too!!)

½ cup extra creamy unsweetened oat milk (or other dairy)

1 scoop chocolate protein powder (or plain protein powder + 1 tbsp raw cacao powder <--not an affiliate link)

1 medium frozen banana, sliced

Place the coffee, oat milk, and protein powder in a high-speed blender. Cover and blend well. Add the banana and blend until smooth. If you want a thinner consistency, add a little extra oat milk.

YUM!
